The easiest way to travel from Toronto Airport to Niagara Falls is by car. When I’ve done this drive, it’s taken me around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic.

The route is straightforward, following Ontario’s 401 and 403 highways before merging onto the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) towards Niagara Falls. The most difficult part of the drive is exiting the airport.

Driving gives you the flexibility to travel on your own schedule, which can be a big plus if you’re planning stops within the Niagara Region, and not just visiting the main tourist area of Niagara Falls.

Renting a Car at the Airport

Renting a car at Toronto Pearson Airport is easy and convenient. Every major car rental agency has a location on-site, so you can pick up your vehicle right after landing.

If you’re staying at a Fallsview hotel in Niagara Falls, be prepared for parking costs. From my experience, hotel parking can range from $35 per night for self-parking to as much as $100 per night for valet.

FlixBus is the only direct bus option from Toronto Pearson Airport to Niagara Falls, offering a budget-friendly and convenient alternative to other transportation methods. The buses depart from Terminal 1, which is easy to reach using the airport’s internal train system. 

During the busy summer months of July and August, FlixBus runs approximately seven daily trips, while off-season schedules drop to around three trips per day. The bus takes you to the Table Rock Welcome Centre. 

Tickets start at just $25 CAD per person one way, making it an affordable option if your flight arrival aligns with a scheduled departure time. 

While the prices are appealing, keep in mind that cancellations are issued as vouchers rather than refunds, so be sure of your plans before booking.

Train: Downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls

Unfortunately there isn’t a direct train route from Toronto Pearson Airport to Niagara Falls. You can, however, travel by train if you go into downtown Toronto first. 

The UP Express connects the airport to Union Station in about 20 minutes, making it a quick and easy transfer.

From Union Station, you have two train options: GO Train and VIA Rail. Both provide service to Niagara Falls, but schedules and pricing vary, so it’s worth comparing them to find the best fit. 

This route is most practical if you’re planning to spend time in Toronto before heading to Niagara Falls, as the detour downtown adds extra steps and time to your journey.

GO Train: Toronto to Niagara Falls

Taking the GO Train from downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls is an economical and convenient option, especially for weekend trips in the summer.

Weekend service to Niagara Falls on the GO Train is just $10 return (same day). There are 3 trains per day on both Saturdays and Sundays. In July and August there is daily service, but the price is slightly higher at about $20 one way on week days.

You can purchase your tickets when you are ready to travel and there is a GO Train and WEGO Bus combo ticket for seamless travel within Niagara Falls.

VIA Rail Train: Toronto to Niagara Falls

VIA Rail offers a daily train service from Union Station in downtown Toronto to Niagara Falls. The train departs Toronto once a day at 8:20 a.m. Tickets start at $26 CAD each way.
