We drive to Niagara Falls frequently, and it’s usually the best choice if you want flexibility and plan to explore more of the Niagara region, not just the main Falls area.
That said, I also know that when I travel to a new country, I don’t always feel comfortable driving somewhere unfamiliar whether it’s navigating new highways, different road rules, or even driving on the opposite side of the road. Highways around Toronto can be especially busy, which can feel overwhelming if you’re not used to them.
There are several other transportation options from Pearson Airport including private transfers, shuttles, and bus options. I’ll describe each option below.

It should take approximately two hours but one thing I always tell people is that traffic is unpredictable. Sometimes I can get there in under two hours, but other times, especially if there’s an accident or construction on the highway, it can take closer to three.

If you’re considering driving, renting a car at Toronto Pearson Airport is very straightforward. All of the major rental companies operate directly from the airport, so you can pick up your vehicle shortly after landing.
In my experience, this is one of the best options if you’re planning to explore beyond Niagara Falls itself. Places like Niagara-on-the-Lake, local wineries, and smaller towns in the region are much easier to visit if you have your own car.
It’s also a good choice if you prefer having full control over your schedule or are visiting with family and luggage, since you won’t need to coordinate transportation times.
Parking in Niagara Falls
One thing that often shocks visitors is how expensive overnight parking can be in Niagara Falls – especially if you’re staying at a Fallsview hotel.
The last time I stayed at the Hilton Fallsview, on-site weekend parking was a whopping $80 CAD per night! Self-parking usually starts around $35 CAD per night, while valet parking can range from $50 to $100 CAD per night depending on the hotel.
Parking costs can add up quickly, so it’s worth factoring the cost of parking overnight into your budget when deciding whether renting a car makes sense for your trip.
If you’re just visiting for the day, there are many paid lots near the Falls, but prices can still be high during the summer season.

FlixBus drops passengers off near Rapidsview Parking Lot (Parking Lot C), which is a short distance from the main tourist area.

From what I’ve seen, most travellers are happy with this option once they understand the extra step but it’s definitely something you’ll want to plan for in advance.
6. GO Bus From Toronto Airport to Niagara Falls
The GO Bus is one of the least known – and most affordable – ways to get from Toronto Pearson Airport to Niagara Falls. Visit the GO website to check the bus schedules.
Here are the advantages of taking the GO Bus:
- Tickets can be purchased online last minute – no pre-purchase required
- The bus leaves the airport about once an hour
- No additional cost for luggage
- On weekends, you can often take advantage of the $10 day pass, which makes it one of the cheapest ways to travel between Toronto and Niagara Falls.
- On weekdays, fares are typically around $21 CAD one way, with additional group pass options available for multiple riders. For example, a 2 person group pass is $30
The main thing to know is that it does require one transfer, which is why many people overlook it. But in my experience, the connection is easy and well-organized.
The total journey takes about 3 hours but pricing is where this option really stands out.
How the GO Bus Route Works
- First, take GO Bus 40 from Pearson Airport Terminal 1 toward Hamilton.
- Then, transfer to GO Bus 12, which continues on to Niagara Falls.
- If you are arriving at Terminal 3, take the free Terminal Link train to Terminal 1.
The transfer takes place at Dundas St. at the Hwy 407 Park & Ride, and it’s typically a smooth connection without a long wait.
Where the GO Bus Drops You Off in Niagara Falls
You will be dropped at the Niagara Falls GO station, which is about 3 km from the main fallsview area. You will need to take the WEGO Bus or a taxi/rideshare from this location to your final destination.
7. GO Train Via Downtown Toronto
There isn’t a direct train from Toronto Pearson Airport to Niagara Falls, but you can take a train by first traveling into downtown Toronto.
To do this, take the UP Express from Pearson Airport to Union Station (about 25 minutes) and then take the GO Train from Union Station to the Niagara Falls GO Station.
Once you arrive in Niagara Falls, you’ll need to take the WEGO bus or a short taxi/Uber to reach the main tourist area.
While this is a good option if you’re planning to spend time in Toronto before heading to Niagara, I don’t recommend this route if you are going straight to Niagara Falls. It’s not easy to coordinate your arrival with departing GO Trains. The GO bus is a much better option directly from the airport.

New for 2026: Air Canada Landline Motorcoach Service to Niagara Falls
Starting in June 2026, Air Canada is introducing a new motorcoach service that will connect Niagara Falls directly with Toronto Pearson Airport.
This service is designed to work as part of your flight booking, allowing you to travel between Niagara Falls and the airport as a seamless connection.
Because this is a brand new service, I don’t have personal experience with it yet – but it’s an interesting option to keep in mind, especially if you’re flying with Air Canada and want everything booked as part of one itinerary.

A little bit of planning can make a big difference when traveling from Toronto Pearson Airport to Niagara Falls, especially if it’s your first time visiting.
These are a few things I always keep in mind when making the trip.
🚗 Toronto Traffic
401 is one of the busiest highways in North America, carrying hundreds of thousands of vehicles every day, and in some areas it expands to 12 lanes. This makes Toronto traffic intense.
From rush hour or event traffic, to construction, to accidents, to bad weather – driving in and out of Toronto can be unpredictable. A drive to or from Niagara has taken me anywhere from 1.5 hours to over 3 hours.
If you’re not used to driving in this kind of environment, it can feel overwhelming—especially after a long flight or in an unfamiliar country.
If you do have flexibility, it’s still worth trying to avoid peak times, but the main thing to keep in mind is that travel time can vary quite a bit depending on conditions.

Options like private transfers, taxis, and shuttles are much easier since you don’t have to move your luggage between vehicles or stops. I’ve found this especially helpful after long flights, when the last thing you want is to manage bags while figuring out directions.
With options like FlixBus or the GO Bus, you’ll also need to plan for that final leg of the trip. After getting off the bus, most travelers will need to take the WEGO bus or an Uber to reach their hotel.
