Tossa de Mar Hotel Review: Casa Granados Boutique Hotel

During my recent visit to Barcelona, I took a day trip to the beautiful historic town of Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava in Spain.

I decided to spend the night and and booked a stay at the Casa Granados Boutique Hotel in Tossa de Mar. What a great decision!

I loved my stay at this boutique hotel on the Costa Brava and was particularly impressed by its location, outdoor pool, fantastic rooms, and delicious breakfast buffet.

Casa Granados Boutique Hotel Overview

This hotel’s location is superb, nestled within the cobblestone streets of the historic centre of Tossa de Mar and just a few minutes walking distance from beaches, restaurants, and local shops.

The hotel is conveniently close to both the small cove beach, Es Codolar, and the large, main beach of Platja Gran. With stunning views of the medieval castle and the convenience of being so centrally located, this hotel is the ideal place to stay during your visit to Tossa de Mar.

While the lack of direct driving access could be considered a downside, all you need to do is park your car by the beach and walk a few minutes to reach the hotel.

Casa Granados Check-in and Staff

As soon as I arrived at this boutique hotel, the staff were welcoming and friendly, even though I arrived before check-in. They kindly offered to keep my luggage so that I could explore Tossa.

What impressed me most was the level of friendliness and warmth from the staff. They truly made me feel at home and went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

Once I got to my room, a welcome letter explained the history of this 200-year-old property. It was fascinating to learn that in the past, this property was a meeting place for Catalan writers, painters, and musicians when it belonged to the Grandos family.

Boutique Hotel in Costa Brava with an Outdoor Swimming Pool

One of my favourite features of this hotel was the stunning outdoor pool and hot tub. It made for the perfect place to relax and unwind after exploring the town of Tossa and taking a short hike up the coastal cliffs.

There is also a rooftop bar and dining area. And although the bar was not open when I was there, there were stunning views of the old town, and it was an excellent place to relax and have a glass of wine.

There are plenty of comfortable chairs, seating areas, and loungers provided around the pool area so that you can enjoy a swim in complete relaxation.

The pool is an excellent addition for those traveling during the hot summer months, offering a refreshing respite from the heat. Access to the pool and terrace greatly enhanced my stay at Hotel Casa Granados.

Casa Granados Room Review

The rooms at this hotel were a delightful experience! There are just seven rooms at the hotel, and each one has its own unique style and decor. There are a variety of room types, including comfort rooms, suites, and rooms with a terrace.

I found the room to be spacious, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Amenities such as free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, coffee makers, robes, and complimentary water were also included. There is air conditioning, if needed.

The bathroom was large and quite beautiful. Toiletries and a hairdryer are also available.

Breakfast and Dining Options at Can Sophia Restaurant

Including breakfast at the hotel was also an excellent decision! I’m so glad I chose to include it with my room, as it was a lovely experience served in an elegant atmosphere.

The hotel’s restaurant is a stunning space complete with courtyards and a glass-enclosed terrace, which made for a truly luxurious breakfast experience. The buffet service was extensive, and I loved having everything I needed right there, including fresh fruits and freshly cooked egg dishes.

The Casa Granados Hotel also has a highly-rated and very popular on-site restaurant, Can Sophia. While I personally did not have the opportunity to eat dinner there, the reviews speak very highly of this fine-dining Mediterranean restaurant.

Many recommended having dinner (and particularly the tasting menu) at this elegant restaurant. If you do decide to go for dinner here, it is highly recommended that you make a reservation due to its popularity.

Parking at Casa Granados

The one challenge with this hotel is the parking. If you come by car, there is a very limited parking facility located about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Parking arrangements must be made with the hotel before your arrival.
